Online Safety

Online Safety is becoming increasingly important for children of all ages. The internet is, on the whole, an inspiring and positive place and an amazing resource for connecting, communicating and allowing children to be creative as they continue to access the internet on a range of different devices. At Gracefield School, we recognise the importance of educating our children about both the benefits and risks to using computers and the internet. Our comprehensive Computing curriculum ensures children from a young age are taught about using technology safely. You can view our school's Online Safety Policy here.

In Key Stage 1 pupils will be taught to:

  • Use technology safely and respectfully, keeping personal information private
  • Identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies

Pupils in Key Stage 2 will be taught to:

  • Use technology safely, respectfully and responsibly
  • Recognise acceptable and unacceptable behaviour
  • Identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact

We also aim to educate our parents about online safety and we provide training sessions each year for our parents on current issues and platforms available to children. These may be presented by the NSPCC or school staff.

We recommend children and parents take a proactive approach themselves to Online Safety. The websites below are examples of some of the fantastic resources we encourage our families to use.
